What is Amatsu?
A physical osteopathic therapy that relieves pain, lets you move more freely
and restores vitality
Our life story shapes us, as our bodies adapt to the environment we live in and what surrounds us. Over time, these experiences settle in the body, affecting how we feel, move and — most importantly — heal and recover from life's stresses.
For example, sitting at a desk all day may eventually cause back, neck or shoulder pain. Emotional stress can show up in these same areas too — tight shoulders, headaches, low energy — reminding us that physical and emotional experiences are connected. This is where Amatsu offers a gentle and effective solution.

Amatsu is a gentle, non-invasive, hands-on treatment that can find these areas of tension and imbalance removing restriction, so you can move more freely, restore vitality and simply live with less pain.

Based on ancient Japanese osteopathy techniques, Amatsu is rooted in a unique fusion of ancient Eastern philosophy and Western Science. At the core of this practice is the philosophy of the Godai— the Five Factors that govern our health and well-being: Structural, Emotional, Environmental, Electrical and Chemical, or Earth, Fire, Water Wind and Void. These five factors are interdependent, meaning when one becomes imbalanced, it affects the others. Understanding and working with this dynamic relationship between the factors is essential to identifying the root cause of discomfort, not just treating the symptoms.

Gearóid uses Kinesiology (muscle testing), Craniosacral, Sacral osteopathy, Acupressure, Neuromuscular, Re-patterning, Remedial massage and Postural re- alignment techniques - All light, precise movements to diagnose and then release tension in muscles, fascia, ligaments, organs and joints. Realigning the body and freeing up the body's inheriant ability to heal itself.
Unlike other therapies, Amatsu is a whole-body treatment that addresses many musculo-skeletal and lifestyle-related conditions: Injuries, pain and postural imbalances, as well as headaches and emotional tension, digestive issues and many more, all the while restoring energy and vitality to the body.

What to expect from a Amatsu Therapy session

Arrival & Consultation
Our life story shapes us, emotionally and physically. So, we begin by listening — discussing any pain, tension or movement issues you’re experiencing and carry out some mobility tests. Every session is tailored to your body’s needs.
Gentle, Non-Invasive
Unlike deep tissue massage or therapies with strong-hand adjustments, Amatsu uses light, precise movements to release tension in the body's soft tissue, muscles, tendons, fascia, ligaments and the organs, while you're clothed. The practitioner will gently move and support your body, encouraging realignment, balance and flow.
Full-Body Approach
Unlike many other therapies Amatsu treats the whole body not just the symptoms. A treatment combines therapeutic skills such as Kinesiology (muscle testing), Craniosacral, Sacral osteopathy, Acupressure, Neuromuscular, Re-patterning, Remedial massage and Postural re- alignment techniques.
Deep Relaxation & Release
As your body lets go of built-up tension, you may feel a sense of lightness, relief and even emotional release by the end of the session

Regular treatments can address conditions, including back pain, sciatica, shoulder and pelvic injuries, joint problems, repetitive strain, headaches and migraines, digestive disorders, menstrual cramps, postural issues, sleep apnea, vertigo. A side effect of all treatments is emotional wellness and grounding.
For best results, we suggest booking a series of initial sessions, followed by monthly or bi-monthly maintenance sessions.

Gearóid Lynch
"With a background in sports, and a previous career in carpentry, I had a lot of pain from re-occurring injuries. Multiple physiotherapy sessions and exercise regimes didn't change much. It wasn't until i discovered Amatsu I overcame these issues, and hence embarked on this career I am passionate about.
"Practicing in Westport for over 10 years, I'm qualified in Anma, Setai and Shinden levels and studied this craft under Paul Hand, one of the original Western students of Dr. Hatsumi, the Japanese Grandmaster who first shared Amatsu beyond Japan. This direct line of training honours the authentic foundations of Amatsu therapy — preserving its depth, integrity and connection to the original teachings, as well as honouring the original roots of Amatsu healing.

"Meanwhile, I gained further training under under Christine Duffy and Carole Douglas.
"I am also a qualified yoga, breathwork and meditation teacher."
